This is mainly in prone areas to this weather events, but\u2026Which are the areas where lightnings tend to strike the most in Spain and worldwide?<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Where_lightning_strikes_the_most_in_Spain\"><\/span><strong>Where lightning strikes the most in Spain.<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Our country is well-known in Europe for its warm and sunny weather, although the north of Spain is colder and rainier. Rainfalls are more frequent, but \u2026Are those areas also the most prone to thunderstorms?<\/p>\n<p>In Spain over 1,3 million lightnings strike per year. The State Meteorology Agency (AEMET) has made available the data regarding the Climate Maps of Spain (1981-2010) and ETo (1996-2016) being published in 2018. On them, it is possible to observe the average of storm days per year from 1981 to 2010.<\/p>\n<p>According to the available data, the greatest number of thunderstorms are focused on the northeast of Spain: Arag\u00f3n, Catalu\u00f1a and Comunidad Valenciana. Especially in Pyrenees and the south of the Iberian Mountain Range is where they appear the most, with an average of more than 30 days of storm per year.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/upload\/imagenesEditor\/Where_lightning_strikes_the_most_in_Spain.jpg\" alt=\"Where lightning strikes the most in Spain\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The cause of a greater number of storms in these areas is related with the convection that takes place during the summer. The sun heats the highest mountain fields of our geography, which are also closest to the cold air flow causing the condensation and formation of cumulonimbus clouds.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Where_lightning_strikes_the_most_worldwide\"><\/span><strong>Where lightning strikes the most worldwide.<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>According to NASA data, around\u00a040 lightnings strike\u00a0globally per\u00a0second and more than 2,000 thunderstorms happen simultaneously every day around the globe.
