These storms are usual at the Mediterranean coast at the end of the summer, often accompanied by lightning, although the activity during that period was especially intense since it means approximately 2/3 of all lightning strikes expected in the area during the whole year according to the isoceraunic maps.
In this area many buildings are protected against lightning with air terminals and surge protectors of Aplicaciones Tecnológicas, S.A. None of the protected structures has reported any damage.
