The frequency inverters are sophisticated equipment with microcontroller technology. For this reason, they are very sensitive to voltage transients and therefore suffer a lot of damage.
Typically, these devices have a three-phase supply input with a neutral and a three-phase output without a neutral, which normally supplies power to pumps.
Types of surge protection for frequency converters
ATSUB-4P-NR 40 TT
(Ref.: AT-8030)
For the protection of the general input of the MCB (Mechanical Circuit Breaker), a type 2 transient overvoltage protector is recommended, capable of withstanding a maximum current of 40kA with an 8/20µs wave, and residual voltage less than 1.400V.
The installation of 50A fuses in series with the protector is recommended.
It can also be protected against permanent overvoltages with the reference AT-8702 connected to the output coil of the switchboard circuit breaker.
ATSUB-3P-NR 40 TNC
(Ref.: AT-8071)
To protect the electronics of the drives or static starters, a type 2 protector is recommended, capable of withstanding a maximum current of 40kA at 8/20µs wave, and residual voltage less than 1,400V.
The installation of 50A fuses in series with the protector is recommended to avoid equipment failure(pump, motor…).
ATLINE 24
(Ref.:AT-9224)
For the protection of the analog data signals, such as those from level control sensors, the ATLINE 24 protector is recommended.
The protector is prepared for 2 pairs.
