A lightning strike is a natural event which significantly affects all outdoor activities, especially outdoor sports events, and can pose a risk if the right preventive measures are not considered. The data obtained by different institutions corroborates the high frequency of lightning strikes in sports events.
Aplicaciones Tecnológicas has joined the standards committee CTN 221 – Wind energy generation systems of the Spanish Association for Standardisation (UNE) to participate in the maintenance of the standard UNE-EN IEC 61400-24:2011 – Wind turbines. Part 24: Protection against lightning strikes.

Between 18th and 22nd November the group meetings of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) took place in Milan (Italy). These are responsible for the review of the international regulation of lightning protection IEC 62305. This regulation review was performed for its four parts (General Principles, Risk management, Physical Damage to Structures and Life hazards, Electrical and Electronic Systems in Structures). In addition, a general assembly of IEC Group 81 (Lightning Protection) was held.
