A new international regulation, IEC 63052:2019, was published Last August 2019. It regulates the quality, safety and electromagnetic compatibility requirements for protectors against permanent or temporary overvoltages, also known by their acronym POP (Power Overvoltage Protectors).
The new AT-3503 Power Supply Tester of Aplicaciones Tecnológicas is responsible for monitoring and detecting dangerous voltages, network frequency variations as well as increases in the resistance of the earth loop of an installation. The line tester detects any network anomaly by acting through its dry contact relays.
For an efficient and safe electrical vehicle charge, a specific instruction has been elaborated within the Low Voltage Regulation for the installations intended for that purpose: the ITC-BT 52. This instruction stresses the necessity to have specific material in transient and permanent surge protection. Aplicaciones Tecnológicas has tailored solutions for compliance with this standard.
The protection against overvoltages in an electrical installation is vital to guarantee peoples safety and avoid short and long term damages to equipment. A large majority of the installations are protected against overloads and derivations, but the installed devices do not protect against transient overvoltages (due to lightning) and permanent overvoltages (for example due to neutral failures).
